LGBT Institute Research Fellow, Spring 2016 Cohort
Rudi Hermawan is a graduate student majoring in health promotion and behavior at School of Public Health Georgia State University. Previously, he has worked as a community empowerment officer at Governmental Public Organization in Indonesia for five years. One of the duties is to empower marginalized people, such as poor people, people with disabilities, and transgender community to get better access in health and education. Apparently, Indonesia still has difficulty to achieve universal human rights because of the stigma and marginalization. His career goal is to improve knowledge among the marginalized people about rights and obligations as a human being. As an international student, he very excited to gain some knowledge and get good practices as well as replicate the practices when he return home.
