LGBT Institute Research Fellow, Spring 2016 Cohort
Emma Thurman is an undergrad sociology major at Georgia State University concentrating on gender and sexuality studies. She came out as a lesbian in 2011 to the surprise of very few. Emma has been organizing events in the Atlanta drag scene for the past year, gaining knowledge and respect for the performance art. Having been personally affected by the HIV pandemic Emma hopes to spread sex education awareness within the LGBTQ community, provide more free access to contraceptives, and promote the use of PREP among high-risk groups.
