LGBT Institute Research Associate, Spring 2016 Cohort
Brittany Taylor is a queer femme Ph.D. student in the Sociology department at Georgia State University. At my core, I am first and foremost an activist. Being deeply immersed in my community is what guides all of my research capabilities. My research foci include drinking patterns among queer women, LGBT*Q visibility in mental health, HIV/AIDS outreach and prevention strategies, and intersectional approaches to health among LGBT*Q communities of color.
As a member of the queer community, my dedication to health research is present in both my personal and academic endeavors. I have spent the last five years conducting community-based HIV/AIDS outreach, providing aid to clients living with HIV and co-occurring substance use, and working as a sexual health counselor at an LGBT*Q youth clinic in Tampa, Florida.
