DON'T BE ERASED. BE COUNTED. BE HEARD.
The survey was conducted with our research partner:
OVERVIEW
The LGBTQ Institute at the Center for Civil and Human Rights has partnered with Georgia State University to conduct a survey of LGBTQ individuals in the South. This is a study of, by, and for Southern LGBTQ people, with the support of many community and grassroots organizations.
The goal of this research is to amplify the voices of LGBTQ Southerners and highlight the issues affecting our lives. The survey touches on a broad range of topics, including education and employment, health and wellness, criminal justice and safety, sexual and gender identity, and discrimination.
Planning for this survey began in 2015, but the need for this survey has become even more urgent as LGBTQ people are being erased from government policy and research: LGBTQ questions from the National Survey of Older Americans Act Participants (NSOAAP) and the upcoming 2020 United States Census are now gone. Our voices are needed now. Thank you to all who have taken the survey in order to tell your story. With your help, our lives and experiences will not be erased.
