You(th) Belong... At the Center

All Young People in Metro-Atlanta are invited to join us on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights for the first “YOU(th) Belong…at the Center” gathering to learn about social justice issues, engage with leaders and change-makers, and build empowering relationships as your True Self! #YouthBelongATL

About the Event:

We are proud to announce a new initiative connecting Atlanta’s Youth with the city’s rich LGBTQ+ history, legacy and culture.

“YOU(th) Belong… at the Center” will align a broad and diverse collective of supporting organizations to provide young people ages 13-24 with opportunities to build community, learn about local LGBTQ+ history, understand their personal civil and human rights, engage in deep conversations about identity and justice, and develop their personal power as young people. Gatherings will continue each month at locations around Atlanta.

Our Commitment to Community:

Due to the onslaught of anti-LGBTQ legislation (more than 200 nationally this year already), and locally such as SB 88 in Georgia, similar to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, LGBTQ+ youth are experiencing a number of vulnerabilities, from educational outcomes to depression and self-harm. Given this context, the You(th) Belong Collective (The LGBTQ Institute at The National Center for Civil & Human Rights, Kaleidoscope Village, Southern Jewish Resource Network for Gender & Sexual Diversity (SOJOURN), Lost N Found Youth, Atlanta Public Schools-Center for Equity & Social Justice, Atlanta LGBTQ History Project, Calvin Pegus, Neighborhood Church, VolunteerLocal) commits itself to supporting LGBTQ+ youth and young adults.
